Thriving in the Complexity of Software Development Using Open Sociotechnical Systems Design
Thriving in the Complexity of Software Development Using Open Sociotechnical Systems Design
The amazing progress made in technology has led to blindly following the technical imperative at the cost of the social and human dimension. Social sciences can help us create a work environment where people feel more at home and proud of what they produce. An organisation designed using open sociotechnical systems theory will be a more humane one where people are more engaged.

Akamai Blog | Edge DNS: Zone Apex Mapping & DNSSEC
Along with its DDoS resilience and impressive global footprint, Akamai Edge DNS offers zone administrators additional technical flexibility and implementation options to improve performance and simplify DNS operations. One example is zone apex mapping (ZAM), a feature that enables top level hostnames (e.g., akamai.com) to resolve directly to an Akamai edge IP. The popularity and appeal of ZAM do, however, prompt a number of questions about the technical specifics, such as: Is ZAM interoperable with DNSSEC?

Data on the Bots Causing Misinformation
Data on the Bots Causing Misinformation
If you'd like to inspect the files before hand, you can do so here: https://github.com/PublicResourceLicense/Framework/blob/main/files_bots.ipynb I keep forgetting to add this. When I found out who was behind this. I started posting about it. And then my CPU fan not only quit working, it started reversing. https://www.reddit.com/r/GitResearch/comments/urg6q1/right_fan_is_1_year_old_it_not_only_is_having/ I find it distasteful that bots train on "Jewish" subreddits, and "Gay" subreddits. As if they're targeting users. If you don't think this is an emergency then step aside. I'll save you some time. The above is information that these bots will discredit the most. Services affected: Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple, Reddit, Bing, All Microsoft Products. Who it is not: USA, Russia, China, Korea, Japan, UK, Germany, Ukraine, Canada, Mexico. The above is made to look like they are from the above, but they are not. They do have employees inside of these organizations. Their agenda: 1. discredit conspiracy theories by creating insane conspiracy theories 2. gaslight users who have legitimate concerns 3. to stop scientific progress 4. to bring us into another dark age 5. to make us all distrust scientists 6. to make us all question reality 7. to make us all do the wrong things to collapse society. All of the top posts in the subs below are from bots. They have only one goal in mind. Destruction and mayham. Who does this group sound like? I don't know about you, but the Library of Alexandria and the Scholars that were murdered as a result of distrust from the Catholic Church rings a bell. This is a mixed repository. Meaning the users in here are not all bots. You need both to identify bot data. Many of the bots have 666 in their usernames. They all will tell users to repent. They all tell users to stop sinning. What a weird group. But not one of these ever leads back to the Catholic Church. Weird isn't it? All of these bots and not one of them appears to be against religion? If you perform a stylometric analysis on the bots. You'll find who is writing them. Find more here https://www.reddit.com/r/GitResearch/ Remember how good A.I. is, but you would not need A.I. if you had like, 450,000 employees that only worked one day a week. https://andylehti.medium.com/i-interviewed-ai-gpt-3-davinci-002-and-this-is-what-it-said-653683de64a0 This is just text data by the way. Also, another thing the bots hate: https://zenodo.org/record/6536389 https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6529722 The bots use these accounts: u/Br00ce u/justcool393 u/UncleSamuel Blank-Cheque They are the mods of subs that train bots for karma https://www.reddit.com/r/FreeKarma4U/ Their profiles do not match their trophies. u/Sarge_Ward  has a 3 year trophy but it says he created his account on 11/27/14 The same with Frank_Tenpenny u/Norway313 u/NoahBM u/n8theturtle u/shitpost953 relic2279/ Backup profile u/needamod_mods/ Every single mod that has this as a sub they manage:  r/a:t5**** has been part of this group. I have not seen any other legitimate mod with subs like the above. Programming in Pascal on the Atari ST
Programming in Pascal on the Atari ST
Sticking with the Atari ST for another week, I’d like to talk about the first program I actually made available to the world. I had written a lot of stuff for my Atari ST by 1991, primarily using Personal Pascal and GFA BASIC. One app that I liked enough to actually polish and finish was JumpSTART, an app launcher. Here you can see it in monochrome:

Why You Should Care About Software Architecture
Why You Should Care About Software Architecture
Software development teams have resisted "big upfront designs" in favor of architectural designs emerging from self-organizing teams, which can lead to a mindset that software architecture is not really that important. Greater awareness of the implicit decisions they are making, and forcing these decisions to be made explicitly, can help development teams make better, more informed decisions.

James Webb Space Telescope and 344 Single Points of Failure
Earlier this year, the single greatest site reliability engineering (SRE) lesson unfolded itself out in space. After ten years of design and build on a $9 billion budget, this was an effort in testing 344 single points of […]

Plagarism, idea theft, and writing online.
I’ve been in a handful of discussions over the past few weeks about plagiarization: how should authors approach their work being directly or indirectly copied? When I started writing online in 2007, I was writing to learn to write, and my early stuff showed that, by which I mean it wasn’t very good. I mostly documented stuff I was learning in Django like creating a middleware for Google Analytics (please don’t follow any advice in that article: it’s 15 years out of date) or setting up Django and Nginx on Slicehost (Slicehost no longer exists).

Debugging software that is running 150 million miles away is something most of us will never have to do, thankfully. But one former NASA programmer, software engineer Ron Garret, shared his experience of diagnosing faulty LISP software on a Deep Space spacecraft mission, in one recent episode of Adam Gordon Bell’s Corecursive podcast. Garret shared […]
