How Software Delivery Management Fixes Bottlenecks - The New Stack
How Software Delivery Management Fixes Bottlenecks - The New Stack
CloudBees sponsored this post. We all know how traffic bottlenecks are a major disruption in our daily lives, causing delays during our commutes and preventing us from getting to our destination on time. Corporate bottlenecks can cause similar issues, dragging out the timelines for budgets being passed and projects getting started. Software bottlenecks cause the…

How the Project Management Office Can Enable Agile Software Development - The New Stack
There are many benefits of agile software development, including the ability to accelerate growth, foster developer autonomy, and respond to changing customer needs faster, all while creating a company culture that embraces innovation. But, while we're still bickering over what is precisely agile and what precisely isn't, some feel left behind. From middle management to whole…

Why don't I get the throughput I benchmarked?
Why don't I get the throughput I benchmarked?
In synthetic benchmarks, you can achieve a high throughput for your system by throwing lots of independant tasks/clients at it to see what the theoretical limit of your system is, however in real world situations, the throughput you achieve is often much, much lower. One of of the explanations

Little’s Law: How to Analyze Your Processes (with Stealth Bombers) | Process Street | Checklist, Workflow and SOP Software
Simple as it may be, Little's law is an incredibly powerful tool in the arsenal of almost any team. From performing back-of-the-napkin calculations to showing the performance of a system over time, this formula is one of the key building blocks to running an efficient business. Without Little's law, Lean and Kanban wouldn't exist, and […]

Estimating CPU Performance using Amdahls Law
Estimating CPU Performance using Amdahls Law
Choosing the right CPU for your system can be a daunting - yet incredibly important - task. The shear number of different models available makes it difficult to determine which CPU will give you the best possible performance while staying within your budget. In this article we will be looking at a way to estimate CPU performance based on a mathematical equation called Amdahl's Law.

The end of the monopolistic web era?
The end of the monopolistic web era?
Except maybe in totalitarian states, you cannot ever have a single publisher. Most large cities had multiple independent newspapers. In recent years, we saw a surge of concentration regarding newspaper and television ownership. However, this was accompanied by a surge of online journalism. The total number of publishers increased, if nothing else. Yet you can … Continue reading The end of the monopolistic web era?

Web3: Self-Sovereign Authority and Self-Certifying Protocols
When we dine at a restaurant in the physical world, we do not do so within some administrative system. Rather, as embodied agents, we operationalize our relationships by acting for ourselves. Web3, if built correctly, can help people to act as full-fledged participants in the digital realm.

Rails and its Ruby dialect
Rails and its Ruby dialect
This was originally titled “Rails is not written in Ruby” but based on feedback, I decided to change the title. I’m born and raised in Kraków, a beautiful city in Poland, maybe you’ve heard about it, maybe you’ve even been here. In Poland we speak Polish, which is a really difficult language, it’s actually considered one of the top-10 most difficult languages to learn in the world. In Poland, just like in many other countries, there are regions where dialects are used rather than “the pure” form of the language, and so in my city, we have our own dialect.
