Kubernetes and the Erlang VM: orchestration on the large and the small « Plataformatec Blog
If you look at the features listed by Kubernetes (K8s) and compare it to languages that run on the Erlang VM, such as Erlang and Elixir, the impression is that they share many keywords, such as "self-healing", "horizontal scaling", "distribution", etc. This sharing often leads to confusion. Do they provide distinct behaviors? Do they overlap? ... »
Work toward the signing of BPF programs has
been finding its way into recent mainline kernel releases; it is intended
to improve security by limiting the BPF programs that can be successfully
loaded into the kernel. As John Fastabend described in his "Watching
the super powers" session at the 2021 Linux Plumbers Conference,
this new feature has the potential to completely break his tools. But
rather than just complain, he decided to investigate solutions; the result
is an outline for an auditing mechanism that brings greater flexibility to
the problem of controlling which programs can be run.
Fungible joins the NVMe/TCP party with a go-faster card – Blocks and Files
Data processing unit (DPU) startup Fungible has launched a Storage Initiator card supporting NVMe/TCP and says it makes deploying NVMe/TCP effortless in existing datacentres. The card is the latest member of its Fungible Storage Cluster product range and is claimed to deliver the world’s fastest and most efficient implementation of NVMe/TCP. It uses Fungible’s S1 […]
Why it will make you go bankrupt, mathematically Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a strategy to guarantee a profit in gambling? Probably not, but I am not here to philosophize about it. So what I a…
More power for PowerStore: Dell adds NVMe/TCP networking to unified file+block array – Blocks and Files
Taking advantage of VMware’s NVMe/TCP support Dell is adding it to the PowerStore array product line via a SmartFabric Storage Software (SFSS) feature. Dell says it is the first supplier to support VMware’s Update 3 to vSphere 7, and there will be an NVMe IP SAN portfolio across Dell Technologies’ storage, networking and compute products. […]

Cloudian CTO: Kubernetes, Standardization Key to Edge - The New Stack
Kubernetes will play a central role in paving the way for cloud-native technologies to make their way to the edge, but even the open source container platform – whose development is managed by CNCF – faces challenges.
